My wife and I are looking to up sticks from the UK and move to Umbria, likely in the countryside near Perugia somewhere.
I run a digital business from my own home, so income is not an issue and we are thinking of buying a place where we can rent out a annex for self catering to cover some of the mortgage.
It seems that with the stupidity of Brexit, we should plan on moving before the 31st December as everything is easier before then, so it is going to be a bit of a rush it seems.
What are people's recommendations for planning the initial move?
I assume we should visit the area a couple of months before the move and find somewhere to rent temporarily, perhaps for 6 months and in that time find a house to buy.
What are the main barriers to entry and does anyone have any tips for Italian law firms to help with the initial move, business law and real estate help?
We do know Italy resonably well, been on self catering holiday there 8+ times, plus got married there and a month long honeymoon, and I can read Italian ok, but still quite a lot of issues communicating face to face, speaking is easier than listening!
Thanks for any help,
Mike.
