Italy Residency Checks

Hello all,
I am a UK based citizen wishing to establish residency in Italy.

Someone I spoke to said that it would be necessary for me to obtain some document from the UK police in order to (in their words) "prove that I wasn't an axe murderer"!
Does anyone know the precise name of this police report and how I go about obtaining it?

There is also something called a DBS and an Advanced DBS, but not sure if these are the same as the police records report..

Also proof of a secure income coming from the UK. I have a private pension that pays me monthly, plus a small salary, but does anyone know what the minimum income requirement is? (if any)

Finally, they said that I would need to obtain private Health Insurance cover for just the first year of residence (but to buy it once I get there).

Can anyone cast any more light on these supposed requirements for residency?

Thanks all
