Paying utility bills

I need help figuring out how to pay the bills remotely (from the US) on a small property in Italy. I have become the owner of a vacation house in a small town in the mountains (Macugnaga) previously owned by my elderly aunt. She is a French citizen, so she can have an account in the local Italian bank from which all bills (utilities, insurance, etc) are paid automatically. Though I have a signature on the account, my understanding is that as an American I cannot own this account once she passes on (she is 88 years old). Can anyone help me figure out a way to pay the bills? Unfortunately, with Covid I will not be able to travel there for the foreseeable future, and my Italian is not good enough to telephone to people there. I have heard that there are non-resident bank accounts, but don't know whether they can be established remotely. I wonder whether an American credit card could be used to pay bills? Does anyone have experience with a similar problem, or suggestions? Thank you!
