Not Moving; Vacay Home

Hi! I’m new to the forum! My husband and I want to purchase a vacation home in Italy. I’m assuming since we would not be there at any given time more than 3 months, we could do this without a residency visa. Is that correct?

I’m a little overwhelmed with the ins and outs of purchasing a property there. We have narrowed down our favorite locations but we just don’t know how to even get this started. We’d prefer a small town with some expats but would love to integrate with the nationals. We are learning Italian in the hopes that we won’t be labeled as “stupid Americans” who don’t even try to integrate.

Am I even on the right path here? What suggestions would you offer for this scenario? What are things we need to consider and think about? Your input is appreciated!!
