Basic questions regarding private plans that some folks purchase for the minimum required coverage as specified by the ER and residence permit applications.
For private plans providing the 30K Euro coverage, prescriptions, etc... (Cigna, Aetna, Allianz, etc..) - how does medical care work once we arrive, up until we finally get enrolled in the national plan?
E.g.,
Do we only have the ability to schedule routine care with private, in-network doctors/providers?
For emergencies are we restricted to private hospitals
Do most pharmacies accept the private coverage?
Compared with the crazy US system, 30K sounds low (e.g., 1 day in an ICU). How far does 30K in coverage go in Italy? As retirees in our 60s, should be be looking at "US-level" numbers instead (i.e., $1M+)?
