Handicapped travel

I friend of mine wants to travel to Italy this fall with a friend who is partially disabled. She can walk and climb stairs, but sometimes her legs give out. She will bring and use a walker that has a seat. I am sure they would be fine in Torino or in Acqui Terme, but I am seeking thoughts and advice from this forum or other places they could visit without undo difficulty. I am also interested in advice and suggestions on handicapped travel here in general - precautions, preparations, etc. Thanks in advance to this knowledgeable group.
