Retirement in Italia!

My wife and I will be moving to Italy in 2023. Our plan is to spend three weeks this September (2022) on a "scouting expedition" to select our ideal city to settle down. I will also submit documentation to seek dual citizenship (Jure Sanguinis).
We are interested in any advice/experience in our effort to make Italia our new home such as resident visa; rent or buy property; health care plans; dealing with Italian bureaucracy (pros/cons); transportation options (need for a vehicle?) and any other issues that would be important to know.
What we know for sure: We will move to Italy!
What we are interested in knowing: What is the past of least resistance?
