Hey all! My situation is that I’m a dual citizen looking to spend the summers in Italy with my children and between the school year.
I am looking across Italy for somewhere we can live for two months of the year where we don’t need a car. Somewhere close to services/food and close to transportation but within our budget (purchasing an apartment).
Thinking back to the times I’ve been in Italy a friend has always had access to a car if we were outside of the city. I can’t quite wrap my head around how I would go about purchasing a car but it seems there are a lot of places I might want to be that would require one. I can’t find any information about long-term rentals but anything I do seem to look at indicates it would be about $1000 a month which is too much.
Can you all give me your opinion on whether or not I need a car in general and if I had to get one how I would do that? I read that if you were a dual citizen you can use an identity card and AIRE certificate….but still in the dark on this as I read it on this forum without other info. Thanks!
