Documents needed for reacquisition of citizenship process

Hello!
Seeking advice from anyone who has successfully experienced the reacquisition of Italian citizenship. I'm interested in the expedited method where I first sign the declaration of intent to reacquire. I'm fearful of getting to Italy and not having all the proper documents. If you have done this process, I would be so grateful if you could share details about the following:

How long did the entire process take?
Did you need to show a long term lease?
What documents were needed?
Did you need to have an Italian birth record (I was born abroad and not sure if my parents registered my birth in Italy)

I have been reading and reading for weeks and still feel like I'm am not familiar with what this process looks like.
