Carta di Identita

Dear Expats,
Could you please advise us on the process of getting an Italian ID Card/Carta di Identita'?
We moved to Italy 2 weeks ago and have applied for Permesso di Soggiorno. We have our receipts for that from the Ufficio Postale. Our appointment with Questura was scheduled for March 4.
We also received a Certificate of Residency from our Comune.
At what point could we be eligible for receiving or Italian ID Cards/Carta di Identita', and what government agency issues them?
