Liguria-Short Term Rental Region & Neighborhood

Hello! My name is Lisa and I am looking to rent short term (6 months or so), possibly in the Liguria region while I complete my Italian-Dual Citizenship. I am starting my research early for where to rent a furnished apartment. These are my considerations (not necessarily in this order).
1- Walkability
2- Has a Municipal Town Hall
3-Public Transportation and Trains to other cities
4- Affordability

I realize that the city of Genoa may be my best bet. I just wanted to see if there are other possibilities. Also, if anyone has any thoughts on the neighborhoods where to rent (whether in the city of Genoa) or other locales, I'd appreciate that information too.
