Housing in Alessandria region

We are going to relocate from Canada to Alessandria in Italy in January 2024 for my husband's job. We would love to hear from people who know the region of Alessandria and can recommend where to start looking for an accommodation (Alessandria itself or neighbouring cities ?).
We wonder what kind of rental we can typically find (house or apartment) for 2 people (and extra space for our kids or friends visiting). We have sold our house in Toronto and need to move out end of August to a furnished rental until December. We wonder what furniture we should sell now or keep in storage to ship to Italy when we move.
