living in jamaica

I took the leap and found a radiographer job in a hospital in Montego Bay, and rented an apartment on the hospital grounds, i resigned myself that this is where I wanted to be after suffering racism in london, what I found was; Waking up to beautiful scenery evey day, a work atmpsphere where I was respected, although there was a little teasing at first about being English ,going to the beach every saturday, and telling holidaymakers , I live here now, easy travel to Miami which I loved. On a negative note people can try to exploit your ignorance, sometimes it was quite lonley, but give it time, and missing family back home. I only ended up staying a few months because my father became ill, but I plan to go back asap. I felt welcomed and liked. I was aware of the crime rate in Montego bay because of the nature of my work at the hospital, caution is essential. I did feel safe shopping, going to church and so on, and had a number of visitors from the uk who brought things I needed. I did not miss England only family. Oh and missed hot water for a shower brrr. Essential to have a mosquito net and downside having to use repellant more or less every day. I would suggest do your homework for at least a year. visit often, train for a transferable profession if you can. application for a job process took nearly a year, the hospital sorted out the visa TRN and other essentials.
