Immigration Requirements for Starting Up a Business in Jamaica

Hello everyone,

My name is Tari. I am a British citizen looking to migrate to Jamaica mid to late 2017. I have been reading up on immigration requirements on the PICA website as I would like to start my own business over there. It is not quite clear to me as to how I can formalise my stay once I am over there. I have visited the country a number of times now and am familiar with the fact that I can remain in the country for a period of 90 days as a visitor with the option to extend my visitor stay.

Any hints and tips you could give me on how to formalise my stay as a business owner would be much appreciated. I intend to move over and live on the island indefinitely. My partner is Jamaican however we will only be looking to get married in a couple of years time so I am not looking to obtain a marriage exemption certificate immediately.

Many thanks!

Tari
