Seeking Employment

I am new to this forum, but I have lived in Jamaica for the last 6 years and I have been applying for jobs in my field of social work for the last year, without success.
Who knew it would be so difficult, I certainly did not.
I moved here for a better work life balance, but so far I have not found it.
It has become frustrating because I wanted to experience working life here, without the need to go back and forth to the UK where I am originally from.
I am very far from retirement age and therefore I have no pension and therefore need to work to live.
I was considering a private business in my professional field but this experience thus far has put me off.
If anyone has any advise for me, I shall welcome it.
