Short-Term Move Advice!

Hello everyone!
My boyfriend and I are planning to move from US to Jamaica for 3 months (the length of time we are allowed to stay) and are seeking advice on best place to go.. It’s very hard to get a good picture of the current safety in Jamaica without being there, so any insight would be appreciated!

We are looking to be in a beach town that feels safe enough at night if we went out together. We love to cook, so access to fresh food is a must. We want nightlife, but are more interested in culture than touristy spots. We want to keep it relatively cheap, but will both be working and make good salaries. We don’t need many amenities in our place, just safety and proximity to beach.

Please help guide us in the right direction. Thank you so much for your time!
