Your HR department

I am writing an article for Expatriate Adviser magazine about moving staff to Japan, as a reference tool for HR managers. I am interested in any areas that you wish had been better handled by your HR department, anything you think they should have told you about before you went, any problems you have encountered that could have been avoided with the right preparation, any tax or salary problems, and also, on the positive side, anything that was made easier by the people in your company back home.
The categories I will be discussing include: tax, salary payments, banking, accomodation, spouse and family issues such as schooling and spouse employment, visas and work permits, health and orientation.

Any contributions would be really welcome and I can either include them anonymously, or I am happy to credit anyone who helps.
Many thanks

Louise Hillcoat, Marketing Consultant
