I just moved from Mitaka to Chofu in the Tokyo 'burbs. I had the chance to get fiber optic internet service with 100+ mbps, so was pretty excited as I'm a hardcore techie. With that package, fiber optic TV was available at a good price too through Hikari TV.
They came, they saw, they installed. My fiber optic TV was up and running, so I sit down to enjoy some of my favorite programming on the vast array of Discovery stations. What? No Discovery stations are carried by Hikari TV? It was a somber moment when I realized that all of my documentary viewing was going to be limited to History Channel and National Geographic. Apparently, Hikari and Discovery Networks had a dispute last year, so they have dropped all of the Discovery channels.
Figured it would be a good thing to know in advance in case anyone is considering signing up for their service.
