New arrival in Atyrau, Kazakhstan

Hi,
I will be starting a new job in February 09 based in Atryau but also visiting all the main places around Kazakhstan regularly as well. I could do with some useful tips for this town and country as a whole and also some pointers as to where the best places are to meet ex-pats etc. Can anyone who has been there recently or are currently there now help me out? Also, are there any good 'watering holes' in Atyrau to visit in the evenings? Many thanks.
