This may seem like an odd inquiry but I'm wondering if anyone knows where I might get pieces of rattan in Almaty? I am teaching self defense courses and part of the course is elements of Filipino Martial Arts. Rattan is the preferred stick to use in the practice of these arts and I had taken for granted how easy it was to get in the US. I haven't found a place to get it in Almaty. Martial Arts supply shops would have it but sometimes the better source was rattan furniture stops where they would sell nice pieces of it that I could cut down into sticks of any size. I haven't been able to find anything like this in Almaty. Does anybody know of a shop that makes rattan furniture? Possibly someone who imports good regularly from China, Indonesia, or the Phillipines who might be able to ad some rattan to their orders?
