My husband just arrived in Kuwait 12/06. We have a beautiful four-year-old son who is missing his Dad terribly. My husband was supposed to be going to Iraq, but they've transferred him to Kuwait. Because of this I am starting to think about trying to move there. Are companies supportive of the idea of the family moving to a country? How do I even go about starting to explore this idea? When we moved to Texas it was supposed to be so that we would have more time together. Things didn't work out exactly as planned, however, and now my husband's in Kuwait and my son and I are here in Texas all alone. I know my husband is trying to do what's best for our son, but all our son really wants is to be with his Mommy and Daddy.
One real concern I have in terms of moving is education for our son. He is diagnosed with Autism. I have taken all the necessary courses for certification in Special Ed. so I could work with him at home if needed. The biggest need he has is socialization with other children. He can be pretty resistant initially, but he does a good job once he settles in.
If I were able to come, then I would probably sell our home here. I thing it would be just too much to worry about if I were to try to keep it. How expensive is it to buy household items over there? Can you rent a furnished apartment? Any idea on what the cost of living is for a two-bedroom apartment with utilities?
