Rent vs Purchase vs Sharing

Nope - not property - humans lol!
The surest sign that you're in expat turf is by the number of western
males with third world partners that are NOT from the country that
you are currently in.
Nothing wrong with that:
Bar comment: "You get your maid and lover in one package!"
Bored / overweight housewife clan: "Strewth - would you look at that -
I bet she can't even cook or speak english properly!"

I guess I'm trying to compare the momentary cold / blank look on
these womens faces, with those of the suppressed / disillusioned
looks on some 'normal' western wives faces .....

To put this in perspective - I'm a middle aged bachelor - not
confirmed - I've just been running around the planet and doing stuff
that has not acquired me a life mate - as yet.
Partners and some very good girl / lady friends, yes, but nothing
permanent.
So, yeah - I look at both of these scenario's with a more than casual
glance - oft with a shudder.

And then I see expat forum posts of Ladies looking for girlfriends
etc so as to while the time away whilst 'hubby' is earning petro
dollars in a land that is hard to bond to, if you have a first world
suburban nature or a few rug rats.

Granted - this is not an easy place for a woman to be wondering
around in - but hey, it is pretty safe when compared to back home in
Afrique Du Suid.

I'm guessing that the single expat men take the odd mercy flight to
somewhere close by for a cold brew and a warm body (uh - where might
that be ?? ;-).
Sure it's 'nice' being invited around to gatherings of 'couples' in
their little pseudo-western nests - but without bars as a counter
balance, I guess the only alternative is in hitting the gym to buff
up for a re-entry into the meat market at some later date.

Also - in accordance with the title - do you buy your movie DVD's
from a legit source, bootlegs or rent them - and I wonder if there is
a parallel here with regards to women.
I'm all for the odd rental of youth / spontenaity / willingness to
please, and lost my 'civilised' stance on my first trip to Amsterdam.
Once one gets over societies phobias and attitudes, and your own
personal guilt and what ever other insecurities you might have ..
they're just people trying to make their way in this crazy world -
and this industry has been around longer than the oil industry, so
it's a shame that it has to be so 'taboo'.

But, if it's still all so weird and sometimes hard to arrange /
balance from a man's perspective, I really feel for the women out
there in a similar position to me...
It's easier for us men as women are more in tune with feelings and
human nature than us - and sx drive is kinda expected of us, and that
debate that:
"It's easier for women to get laid by just coming on to men......."
is waay off base as the social ettiquettes and OTHER women just make
that virtually impossible ....

So - To all you bored housewives looking for something to do - I have no sympathy - give up mall cruising and shopping - take up YOGA or Tai Chi - get in shape! - buy some candles and scented oils and spice your working man's lives up ...

Or - cop out totally and have a secret alternative existance in www.secondlife.com .. nope I'm not spamming - I have a tattoo'd long haired avatar (Zarn Zond) in there that I used for a year to interact with people from all over the planet ..
Now here's the subliminal TWIST - it can get pretty racy in there as people tend to create an alter ego to follow their hidden traits - ROTFL - my avatar kinda resembles me and I only let him do what I would do ... but there are also really far out creative people just about living in there - just remember that it might not be real, but it is to the extent that any online interaction is more genuine than we are keen to admit to ...
FYI - I have never spent a cent in there and have landmarks to the most amazing free stiff places - so if anyone wants to fast track their way into there - just give me a shout and I can have you demonstrating out some genuine Second Life embassy's re Tibet etc

Wow - oops - got sidetracked - story of my life, but seriously folks - life is what you make of it .. enyoy it !!
