Kickboxing - Worth a Try ..

Sounds crazy yeah, but it's definitely worth a go.
Put it this way - u can't drink or party legally and have a period of your life out here that you shouldn't waste.

I started out joining the Salmiya Gym - then saw the bags hanging upstairs so started a bag workout on my own, but the various martial arts classes after work restricted access to the bags.

I've done Krarate for many years / many years ago - so thought I'd give kickboxing a go - just for a change of the gym routine.
Some days I ask myself what the hell I got myself into, but I'll say this:
The classes are very good as the couch knows his stuff and he is not out to prove anything. I've trained in variety of martial arts and you typically end up with people that just want to prove something - not here.

I'm 45 - have messed knee's from the military / surfing / snowboarding so battle with some of the training and sparring but you are not forced to fight and typically only spar once in a while at the end of a class (when energy is depleted ..).

Since I joined, 3 of the guys have fought in local competitions so I go around and watch these as well.
The classes shrink and expand as guys get injured or have work / study commitments so we're now down to about 6 core attendees - one guys is off with a broken arm from the last competetion / another broke something in his hand - but the rest are just staying away due to laziness or other commitments - which is cool as u get more personal attention and can learn at your own pace.

It's something different - will definitely get you fit and is nice break from just hanging around waiting for better days.

Classes are upstairs at the Salimiya / Platinum gym on:
Sunday / Tuesday (18h30 to 20h00) and Thurday (18h00 to 19h30).

My name is Mike - long hair / earings - I'm atthe gym most days - either training upstairs or downstairs so if u see me and want to know more just ask ....
