Bringing Family to Kuwait

I've accepted a job and planning on going over to kuwait in about a month or so.

I'm a U.S. Citizen and I understand that I must first receive my resident visa before I can apply for dependent visa for my wife and kid (both also US Citizens). I would like to bring them over as soon as I can.

Is it possible that they can come visit on a tourist/visit visa anytime and at the same time apply for the dependent visa?

I would like to have them here at least after a month of me settling down. Is that realistic?
