Hello -
I've been researching places to retire overseas and Malaysia is bubbling up to the top of my list.
I am doing a 4 week scouting trip in Malaysia beginning Dec 10, 2017. At present I am most interested in Penang and KL, but am open to exploring other places in country.
When there I would like to meet up with other expats - particularly singles and couples in their 50s - 60s. What do you like most about retiring here? What are the challenges?
Also, any suggestions where I should consider staying while visiting KL and Penang would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at Airbnb places online - but not sure what specific locales in each I should consider. I want to be near safe public transport, food market/grocery/convenience stores, etc.but not in a party district. Ideally an area where I might want to potentially rent an apartment long-term.
Would love to begin making connections now before I arrive.
Thanks in advance for suggestions and reaching out
