Some upcoming changes that have been announced (mid-March) at the British Council meeting with representatives of the MM2H program. These new financial requirements will likely be instituted "mid-year" (i.e. June or July)
1) MM2H is increasing (probably in June or July) the Liquid Asset requirement to RM600,000 (~US$155,000).
This increases the requirement by RM100,000 for under 50s, and RM250,000 for those over 50.
2) MM2H will require a Fixed Deposit of RM500,000 (US$130,000).
This increases the FD from RM 300,000 for those under 50 and RM 350,000 for those over 50.
3) Regardless of whether one is under or over 50 applicants must demonstrate offshore income of RM10,000 (@$2600/month). This will be waived for those over 60 years of age.
3) Individuals must demonstrate a foreign income of RM10,000/ month (@US$2600). This requirement will be waived for those over 60 years of age.
Some small changes for allowing the parents of recipients to remain for a longer period of time have also been made,
Sarawak M2H will remain the same and, interestingly, you can live (rent) and travel anywhere else with Malaysia (e.g. Penang), though you will be subject to the local situation for purchasing property.
