Tourist visa, working fiancé

Hello

I have recently moved out to Malaysia to join my fiancé who is working here.

I have come on a tourist visa with the hopes of getting paid work so that I can get a working visa and stay longer. My fiancé’ is a teacher out here and his contract is three years.

As he is a teacher he gets periodic holiday every six weeks which we were planning on using to travel to other countries.

After the first week of arriving in Malaysia we visited another country in south east Asia. Upon landing back in Malaysia the immigration officers asked me lots of questions about my onwards plans which I was unable to answer as we hadn’t yet booked our next trip out at Christmas.

I got issued a new tourist visa - which I didn’t realise would happen each time I left, as I thought I would just be able to use the same one I was issued with previously as it said I was allowed 90 days and I had only been in malaysia for a week. He also wrote some numbers on the second visa - does this mean I am black marked?

It would be great to have some guidance on what to do. I was planning on visiting Singapore by land boarder a few times in the next couple of weeks to have a look around but I don’t want to jeopardise my new visa and Immigration to think I am doing a visa run.

Do you get a new tourist visa each time you visit Singapore via land boarder?

If I made sure I had our next travel plans booked before re entering malaysia, such as Christmas trip, February half term. Easter etc (these trips would be 1-3 weeks long), I would be able to do this for a while? Or do you think it’s better to play it safe and not leave malaysia again for the next 90 days? Would they get suspicious about me regularly returning to malaysia?

Surely there are people who use friends and family in Malaysia as a base to travel this part of the world?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
