Entertainment in PV

Hello,
Could you tell me if there are many live theatre options (plays like you would see on Broadway) or comedy clubs in PV? I like the idea of being near the beach, however, I don't want to spend my life there.

I am leaning toward Mexico City instead of PV because my internet research appears to indicate that in PV there are no theatres (except for a few musical revues at the hotels) nor any comedy clubs.
