Move from Canada

We are considering a move to Mazatlan (retiring) and would be considering driving a Uhaul to the Mexican border and transfering our goods (aren't planning on bringing much) to another truck for taking across the border to our new place. Just wondering if movers would let us come with them in the same vehicle. We have a small dog, so we would have to drive across. We are not planning to take any vehicles with us. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
