Temporary citizenship

Seeing that I will be retiring next year or at the latest the beginning of March 2024. Should I apply early for my temporary citizenship as I read after 4 years I can apply for permanent citizenship a bit after I retire? Also I have traveled twice between 2015-2017 to Mexico. Although I didn't notice a stamp on my passport. and of course I no longer have a copy of my FMM paperwork to prove it. what is your advice?
