Several questions arising as I attempt to clear the current fog rolling around in my head.
As I dig deeply into my anticipated second home acquisition and residence in northern Sonora or BAJA/MX, the following surfaces:
1. Can I own real estate in MX (in my case Sonora or Baja areas) without any type of established residency in MX? No Temp or Perm or VISA. Nothing other than my US Passport.
2. If #2 above is "Yes"
_____A. is it advisable to always drive my our car to this/these locations or take MX public transportation (Bus) from the US California or Arizona border? Obviously, if I take a bus, I'll need local transportation if I want to visit several areas. So...
_____B. I could - upon arriving at these cities - rent a vehicle.
_____C. Once I've purchased some type of MX residence, is them more realistic or advisable for me to continue taking the bus from the US border and own and drive a US plated car while in MX. Then leaving it at my MX residence and returning to the US border in MX public transportation (bus)?
3. What if I want to purchase a MX plated vehicle in MX but if I don't have a MX driver's licensed (or permanent residency in MX)? Can I legally drive an own a MX plated car in MX?
4. While there are many benefits to getting either permanent (dual citizenship with the USA) or temporary MX residency, I remain confuse as to the down sides. Example:
_____A. If I received permanent residency (dual citizenship) is it then true that I canNOT legally drive a foreign plated vehicle (USA) in MX?
_____B. While I have a Perm status, what are my restriction and or requirements for the amount of time I can be out of MX and NOT lose my permanency with MX? Are there any?
_____C. What about the US Medicare health system of benefits? Do I lose anything if I obtain dual citizenship?
_____D. Specifically for those of you with perm residency in MX but maintain US, citizenship, what have you seen as additional (possible) downsides? Are there any?
If any of you have actually made it this far... ... ... THANK YOU FOR READING!!!! I appreciate this and look forward to your positive replies!!!!!!!!
