we are driving across the border to Baja CA for Canje (Perm Res)
Appreciate any comments about:
1- other than going to the INM office to sign up for converting the visas to RP cards, does Canje involve anything else other than paying the ~6000 pesos (eg. do we need to present additional docs - we did that at the consulate for getting the visa stamped in the passport)
2- Is a facilitator needed for Canje process - we're thinking of Ensenada, Rosarito, or Tijuana offices of INM.
3- Do you have experience with any decent facilitators that you can recommend - and how much did he/she charge.
4- we understand that as permanent residents we can't have a US plated car, does that mean we cannot drive our car to Mexico and stay there until canje is over, we get the RP cards and drive back to US?
5- (to make hotel/airbnb reservation) any idea how long the canje process takes? And which of the 3 above INM office in BC (Ensenada, Rosarito, or Tijuana) is best for quickest process.
Appreciate your input on these and anything else we need to be aware of for this first drive into Mexico.
Gracias
