I'm late a late 30s American moving to GDL for my wife's new job. I can work remotely so I am planning on moving in the summer/fall of this year, 2023, as my wife is already down there since her start date moved up without much notice. She is a Mexican citizen so I'll need my residency card shortly.
I have been to the city many times as my wife's family lives there. I am excited/nervous since I've traveled many places but lived primarily in CA my whole life. Im open to meeting folks in my similar situation who can help/advise on the move. Im more interested in the back details (CA taxes, health insurance, setting up internet and the like) but also looking to find a community.
Im realistic on the timeline. Im planning on giving the stay at least two years to get my footing and be fluent by then as well. So, what would you tell your younger self prior to moving to Mexico?
