Rabat or Casablanca?

Hi everyone!

I'm moving to Morocco from California in September on a research grant, and wanted to hear any advice you have to offer. As a young single woman, I will be moving and finding housing by myself, so any advice on where to start on that would be great. Is it crazy to apartment hunt once I arrive? Does anyone have any suggestions about the pros/cons of living in Rabat or Casa? I don't know which to pick. Either would work for my research, but I'd be curious to know if it would be easier for me to live alone in one or the other.

I'm an experienced international traveler and love to immerse myself in new experiences, so any advice from fellow wanderers is welcome. I'd also love any perspectives on the culture and communities in each city (Rabat and Casa), if one is more youthful or socially or artistically active.

Thanks so much!
