Ohoka or Fendalton/Merivale?

Moving to Christchurch January 04. Our 2 kids are looking at St Margaret's school. We are struggling to work out which are the best places to live assuming we want some space - Ohoka seems nice (rural) but we have also been attracted by Fendalton and Merivale.

We need help from someone who knows - where should we live if we have kids at school in the city?
