Difficulties finding manufacturing employment.

Hello There all. My name is Neil Sheppard, and I have been a CNC machinist / production engineer for the last twenty years in South Wales, United Kingdom.
I am currently planning to move to the Auckland area of New Zealand in the next 6-8 months, with my wife and 2 year old daughter.
To this end, I am currently seeking employment in the area, as a machinist. I have 20 years experience of programming, fixture design, quality documentation creation and have done most things you can do in a machine shop.
My problem is one you've probably heard no end of times. I am registering with employment agencies, I am even contacting companies and leaving my C.V., but do not seem to be making any progress. Does anyone have any suggestions?
