How to move to NZ?

Hello everyone.
I have been thinking about the possibility of moving to NZ for some time now and it is something I definitely want to do.

I have lots of questions and I am not quite sure what the best approach is to do something like this.

I currently live in USA, am married and one little on on the way. I work in the IT Field and found that NZ is very much in need of qualified IT Professionals.

I thought i'd start here and see what the process is.

how does one get started? It is quite hard to apply for a job in NZ, since it would be difficult to show up for a job interview. I have heard some shady things about companies that supposedly place in you in jobs.

Anyone care to help me get started?
