Salary -vs- Hourly

How does salaried versus hourly pay work in NZ? In the USA, for example, if I am contracted to work 24 hours in a week, and am receive a salary of 480/week, I am not eligible for overtime if I end up working 30 hours in a week. Is the same true in NZ, or would my employer be required to pay for those additional hours worked?
