Trade Skills in Norway?

Hello All,

My time is brief, however I wanted to post this up and start getting some information while I am at work.

I am interested in moving to Norway, for the culture and eventually for school and life. I like the idea of a country that encourages appreciation of your life. I don't yet know the language but plan to figure it out fast when I get there as well as try to supplement my knowledge with some books while I am still in the US.

I currently have no college education, and while I intend to get one eventually, I would like to set myself up in Norway first with a job, specifically house painting as I am relatively skilled in it. I am not looking to be a burden to the state, I want to be productive. Are trades like this in demand in Norway? Also, what kind of visa would I want to apply for, and how would I best go about finding painters to work for? Like I said, I don't know the language, but it is a trade that doesn't require a great deal of communication to start.

I have heard things about Norway such as a requirement to deposit $10k dollars in a Norwegian account prior to being allowed to live there, however, that is far beyond my means. I am debt free and have few responsibilities currently, but I'll have only a few thousand dollars when I get over there, possibly less. I want to get a job quickly, regardless of quality. I am prepared to work hard and make this move happen.
