Hello all,
First, I must say what a wonderful site this is. I have been reading and getting great info here for the last few weeks. With that said, I cannot seem to find anything that pertains to my exact situation.
My partner and I have been together for the last 3 years. Recently they have expressed interest in moving back to Norway for a time. They have dual-citizenship (United States and Norway). After discussing this for some time it looks like this is going to happen in my very near future.
I fully support the idea and am prepared to do anything it takes to go. With that being said, I have a very good job here in the U.S. It is in software sales (so, as far as I can tell, not a skilled trade). My first question is about the current state of the software sales job market. I understand IT is one of Norway's fastest growing sectors. How hard is it going to be for me to find work? I have checked many Norwegian job boards and there seem to be quite a few jobs available. The only thing I am unclear on here is how to obtain one and whether or not I even can. This leads me to my next question.
Assuming my partner and I are not looking to marry within 6 months after arriving in Norway how can I stay longer than 6 months? Sponsorship will not be a problem as most of their family is currently living there and more than willing to do so.
So, to reiterate I am looking for some suggestions on how to get over there, get a job within about 6 months (I have enough money set aside to hold both of us over until I can secure employment if it should extend past 6 months) and secure residency. Will my partner’s nationality help to facilitate this?
Any suggestions on where to start?
It’s funny, there is so much information available online, yet I cannot seem to find a direct answer to my questions. Maybe you guys can help :) Thanks in advance!
