Already employed but looking to live in Norway

I am a Norwegian American mariner looking to spend my vacation time (six months a year) in Norway. I am willing to learn the language and have extended family in Norway. In your opinion would I eventually be accepted by the locals? This is for both American expats and Norwegians alike to reply. I am 22 and fairly extroverted so I have no problem making friends in America. Thanks for any advice.
