Moving to Oslo for opportunity

Hei everyone, my name is Nick and I am a young, educated, caucasian, Canadian citizen. I have read many positive and negative things about Norway in my research. The most common complaints are that it is expensive to live and there are extremely high taxes on everything. I understand that Oslo is the most expensive city in the world and that has yet to deter me away from moving there.

Although I already have a job lined up, my plans are to eventually land a more suitable means of income. I also would like to enroll in a masters program at Oslo university.

I should be moving within the next two months under a traveler's visa for 1 year if I really enjoy life there than I will work towards a residence permit; if I don't like it then I am not really on the hook for much and can spend my time traveling Europe.

I was just wondering what opinions people on this site would give me, do you have any suggestions, pointers, or helpful advice; or do you think I am a complete nutter for doing this?
