Looking into moving to Oman

Hi everyone!

I'm a 37-year-old balding software engineer of Egyptian origin, but was born and raised in Denmark and currently living in Sweden. I have toyed with the idea of moving to the gulf area for a couple of years now, and have been considering Oman being the destination. I still haven't had the pleasure of visiting Oman, but considering going there on a trip and have a look around and get a feel for the place.

I do have some questions for all of you living there. I suppose you might have had similar thoughts as me and probably have a lot of experiences that I am hoping you will share. I welcome all answers. Sunshine stories and nightmares one too. So here are my questions...

Apparently expats are allowed to buy property in Oman, but not everywhere it seems. Mostly in those fancy pansy places like The Wave and so. The prices there are insane. I would have to be a drug lord, gangster or win the lottery to afford that. Are there other places where expats can purchase property? and can I purchase it living abroad, or do I have to be living/working to purchase it?

Is finding a job in Oman easier than finding a job from abroad? And does it help that I'm native Arabic speaker? I know the latter will facilitate things in day to day life, but on the job market is that to any avail?

Thank you for time and answers.

peace
