expat subtle impact

When i first moved to the previous country i was expat in, i was taken in by my neighbour from USA who had married a girl from that country..two weeks with him and i was out on my own with a local family renting there, clean simple house with potential to be all i needed....It had no working fridge but they asked no deposit,,i said i give you deposit,you buy fridge and return deposit when i go away...i had to instal satelite TV,they had to paint the house and so much upgrade to satisfy a foriegner..My meager $200 rent did that for them and 2 years later they have a second house on the property renting out now to 2 foriegner families because it meets the standard...Some one had to first come and upgrade the standard..i did help that....the expats i friended were peace core workers doing small impact effects for sustainable growth of locals well being...i moved to a scend region and found another local family substandard yet real potential to upgrade..they too needed fridge,income..i bought 2 fridges,one satelite and Tv and so many other average upgrades that amounted...the meager $170.oo rent i paid helped the family apply for work overseas and now they have rentable house to foriegn standard and a family member working overseas making 10 times the local wages...i also spent time invited to live for free in area was too substandard for me or the large family,i stayed some time and bought things for whole family for up to a month after i left and took care of one lovely daughter of 5 and set her up in the big city to more aptly find job and be sustainable when i had to leave the country......i never thought how big it would grow from where i left these people but i have to be happy when i got the photos of their new house and new jobs with thanks to me where i was just there making things better for myself but in their lives and property....I cant afford to have that impact in rich countries like USA...expating for me is this and makes all the inconvienences of underdevelopment fade to the background....
