Panama Vacation Results

We were in Panama last week. We LOVED it like we thought we would, plans to retire there are still a go, and we hope to make a few more trips between now and end of 2014. Yes, we went during rainy season, but the first few days the rain held off until dinner time. We had a beautiful Sunday (sunny, big puffy white clouds and sun--85 degrees or anywhere between 28 and 31 Celsius) and spent five hours with Ty and his ATV tour (FANTASTIC). He was open and honest about his time spent in Panama and his family. He took us a longer way back since he didn't have another tour and decided we were a happy group! We spent time at his restaurant (wings are delicious!) with Mona the monkey, we met Michele, his wife, and I chatted with Mark802. He doesn't bark or bite, tells it like it is, and I enjoyed our visit. Bought him a drink (thank you for your time) and we left in pouring rain. Our second trip to El Valle was later in the week and during the tailwinds of Hurricane Sandy (which I am in VA preparing for now). It rained ALL day and was maybe 69 degrees (21 Celsius). Again, no stopping us. We want to live in El Valle (not by the beach). We visited the zoo, and with traffic and pouring rain it took us 20 mins to get to the PanAm Highway (we were staying in Coronado). We made it to the Panama Canal on Thursday and on Friday we had to head to the airport few hrs earlier (had to quit shopping since the vendors were packing up when we got there at noon and the outlet stores were closing) due to the rioting. We were nicely told by a Panamanian to "get a taxi, go back to our room...NOW." So we did. Didn't want to get stuck in traffic or on a road that was closed. We were staying at Marriott by MetroMall (it was still opened but some stores had gates halfway closed). We finally met Mark802, Ty and Michele, blog writers Clyde and Terry, restaurant owners Stephanie and David (Locos in Gorgona). We also spent the day at Santa Clara beach. So out of six full days, Wedn was the day it rained all day. And we were told that was due to unusual tail winds of Sandy. The other days it was sunny in the morning and by five pm (give or take) it would rain. Usually while we ate dinner--we just didn't let it bother us. We had bug spray and raincoats/ponchos! We will be back, we have an idea of where we want to live and with four suitcases on our backs, we will be return permanently. Just wanted to contribute to this forum about my trip since I have been stalking it for so long!
