In Response From Belle

Hello Mark
Glad to hear from you. I am hopefully going to clear some things up. Thanks to all who defended my comment. I did not question the Republic. I was talking about my homeland, so let me clear a few things up.
I have studied the Republic for over a year. You do not see post from me asking the same stupid question over and over. I read the laws of Panama. I read this forum from the beginning which was in 2001 to see how things have changed. As a tax preparer I am in the know when it comes to US taxes. Some scary things may be coming for expats, that's all that means. President Martinelli is a wonderful man and has made great efforts to protect his people. He refuses to let anyone take jobs from his people and he has also made healthcare and other services cheap and avaliable to all. Panama is a diamond in the rough and one day she will be a beautiful diamond and sparkle all around the world.
Panama has the fastest growing economy in Central America. She is 4th among all Latin American countries. In 2010 her Human Development Index was 54th in the World and the 2nd most competitive economy in Latin America.
Panama is building a third lock at a cost of 5.25 billion dollars. 1/3 of it's citizens live in poverty and 14.4% live in extreme poverty. Why did I say that? because I do not intend to come and take advantage of the cheap and good things such as cheap healthcare and deep discounts it offers. I have money and would not need the discounts nor would I take them. If I cannot come and add to Panama then I will not come at all. So here comes the part I am going to get blasted for. If you are there and living on 1500 a month retirement, you are getting more than you give. In the future this could be an economic strain on the Republic as more and more people come into the country looking for a cheap place to live. If you are there and have money then you are giving more than you get. Now this information comes from your forum. Gimme, gimme, gimme. That's what westerner's want. So to the Republic, when I retire I will bring all of my assets and with love and affection give it all to you and hope it will help you sparkle as I know you will one day. And just for the record, I would never question the government of Panama as I think it's policies are good for it's people. We could learn a thing or two from it.
