El Valle/San Carlos Crime

11 years ago
Robert Brown & NHN was formed when Ty & Michelle were dealing with their break-in/robbery in El Valle. I believe Deb Fletcher has posted other re: the information of the organization as it has been progressing. Rob and a few other concerned residents of the Coronado area have had several meetings with the Assistant Attorney General which have resulted in an especially lenient prosecutor in San Carlos being removed (as I understand). The group has gotten the attention of the legal authorities in Panama City regarding these attacks, etc.

I would encourage all of you who want more information to communicate directly with Rob Brown aka Roberto Chocolate:

[email protected]

OR --You can also check out his website: www.retirementdetectives.com
When you go to that website & choose (Latest News) you will see the same information that Jackie posted however the home invasion is referenced as San Carlos--Los Margaritas is officially part of the San Carlos district (not sure this is the right word). FYI: The area including the scenic overlook to Las Uvas is all part of San Carlos.

The service NHN offers is good but he is aware that those of us living in El Valle have a problem with identifying our properties because of the lack of accepted street names and house addresses. It would be good if El Valle could get back to resolving that issue. :-)

I trust you will find this information useful.

=========================================================================
Does anyone know what time "in the morning" this happened? Also, what does "armed" mean? How many guns? Knives? All information is useful in establishing a pattern and preparing a personal action plan.

As to scary, yes indeed. But fear can be greatly reduced by having a security plan. Don Winner has talked a lot about security; Layers, layers, layers to give notice and buy time -- fence, locked gate, window bars, fortified doors (not just the standard door lock), dog(s), alarm, and a safe room with cell phone, etc. Have code words and action plans. Think of it as a fire drill.

I know that a lot of people don't like living with bars on the windows. We have bars and think of them as a way to keep the bad guys out. We have doors and can come and go as we please. With window bars we sleep really well, never wondering when Sneaky Pedro will climb through an unprotected window. We are not prisoners in our own home and refuse to think that we are.
=========================================================================

We live in El Valle and have come home or waken up in the morning to find windows open. Nothing has been missing but it really makes a person wonder what's going on. After reading about these attacks it's downright scary... Until recently we've had live in domestic help, it looks as if we may have to go back to live-ins as we were told last evening by some "locals" people are watching our home!
MEETING REGARDING THE YOUTH MURDER IN EL VALLE
Our landlord asked us to host a meeting on this Monday Sept 23rd at 11am. This meeting is for those who are concerned about the children, teens and adolescents in and around El Valle. This crime was not done by someone from another part of Panama. The youth involved in this crime are from right here in El Valle.

There are a number of officials coming from the city and I was told to expect about 60 - 70 people. There will be an opportunity to bring ideas and suggestions forward to try and make El Valle a better and safer community for everyone.

Over the past 2 years I have been talking with some other business owners regarding a "Youth Drop In Center" where kids {up to 17 or 18 years old} are able to have someplace to go and "hang out". Of course this idea is a long way from reality but this will be a great opportunity to push for some assistance to get this idea off the ground.

I have suggested there would be enough "volunteers" to staff the youth center to help keep operating costs low. We would also need to get some entertainment inside...computer/s with internet...PlayStation...pool table...ping pong table etc.

This will give the kids a fun and more importantly a SAFE place to hangout.

If you are interested please plan to attend. Any questions give me a call. 6780-7251...please don't send me email to yahoo...please use my business email. Monday September 23rd @ 11am.
