The United States recommends that its citizens avoid traveling to Panama, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, since "the risk has increased in some areas."


Tocumen International Airport, have regained their wings on Friday, August 7th with flights from Panama and connections to eight countries in the Americas and eleven destinations. The reopening coincides with Panama and most countries in the region being placed on a “no go” list by the US State Department.


Copa restarts its operations, after last week the National Government authorized a Controlled Operations Center at Tocumen International Airport, which allows the departure of passengers from Panama, the transit of passengers, limiting the number of flights and controlled entry of Panamanian passengers residing in the national territory.


Panama has banned commercial passenger flights since March 23, but on Thursday it was announced that travel by citizens and residents will be allowed, conditioned on the presentation of the Covid-19 test, and keeping a mandatory quarantine for 14 days.


Panama has blocked the entry of 26 Costa Rican plants that process meat and dairy products for over three months causing a trade dispute. It involves the non-delivery of the required documentation on time, to continue with the renewal of sanitary permits. The blockade constitutes a serious commercial problem between both countries.


The Fifth Criminal Court of Guatemala on Friday, August 7th announced the start of the extradition process of Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares, the son of former president Ricardo Martinelli wanted in the United States for alleged money laundering and conspiracy to launder money linked to Odebrecht. The extradition for his brother Ricardo Alberto is in the Third Criminal Sentencing Court, which has not yet released a decision.


The Ministry of Health ordered the closure of the Super 99 in San Mateo in the city of David, Chiriquí on Thursday, August 6 after detecting “a considerable number” of positive cases of coronavirus cases among personnel.


Coronavirus in Panama: 1609 Deaths with 73,651 Cases reported. There are 22,655 people in isolation 22,069 at home and 586 in hotels. There are 1,639 hospitalized patients 1,483 in the ward and 156 in intensive care units (ICU).
