Greetings,
I am new to the forum (first thread!), so please excuse me if I haven't yet mastered any of the posting etiquette.
I am a native English-speaking multimedia journalist who is trying to plan a photo/video project on a small school operated by friends that is located in Itacurubí de la Cordillera, which is situated about an hour and a half outside Asuncion. I am looking to fly into the capital around the third week of November and have already arranged for a ride from the airport to Itacurubi. However, my friends--who are fluent in both Spanish and Gurani--will not be getting there until the first week of December, leaving me with my limited Spanish and no knowledge of Gurani until their arrival.
You might be wondering why I don't simply wait for my friends to get there. This would be the obvious solution save for the fact that I want to catch the schoolchildren while class is still in session, not after they've been dismissed for the summer. Herein lies my question.
Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of potential organizations or independents based in the capital or surrounding area who might be willing to accompany me to the school for a few days in November to help translate on this project?
I am currently outlining a budget and intend to factor in a modest honorarium for the right individual. However, this is a passion project and the pay certainly wouldn't be lavish.
You can reply to the thread or send me a pm if you prefer. Thanks so much for any leads or advice!
