DSL and Telephone Manila

Can anyone please share your experience regarding Manila Telcos and DSL providers?

We're arriving Manila Early December 2009, probably move to an apartment in Makati for 3 years.

We'll need phone and DSL connection, but there seem to be a lot of unhappy customers out there.

For telephone connection we will temporarily use cell phones, but will need landline eventually, and would prefer DSL with same company as the phone service (less argument when it fails). Need 512-1.5 connect speed, with 5 to 10 Gig monthly download.

In Perth (Oz) I currently use 1.5G DSL at home, and a mobile USB HSPA/GSM with Telstra (the best in Australia), and I'm quite disappointed with the mobile technology, drop outs, slow speed etc. Therefore I am reluctant to consider mobile broadband in Makati.

Cable broadband is definitely not on my list, and I won't be getting cable TV.

What costs are considered reasonable for phone and DSL?

Hope you can help.

Paul.
